It was an great day in Cedar Rapids, IA...although sweltering hot. The opening ceremony was very informative and exciting. It was 2 yrs ago that Cedar Rapids was devastated by extreme flooding and the residents here remember it like it was just yesterday. To hear the stories and listen to how blessed they feel by us being here to help rebuild, was a bit humbling. It is great to be a part of helping to restore the lives of so many. Build-a-Thon is in Cedar Rapids, IA this year and is an event where Habitat VISTAs and National Direct come to do a blitz build. This year Build-a-Thon returns to Cedar Rapids to continue recovery efforts from the floods in 2008. Here is our video chronicling the travel to the event. The event was well-attended by residents and dignitaries. This organization was started to respond to the need for resources in the North Mason area. DSHS will be represented here as well as many area non-profits such as Faith in Action, Disabled Vets and even us. So come out to the Lincoln Center in Belfair and check out the resources.
