Wall Raising Ceremony at Habitat Home #24

October 27, 2014

Shelton, WA, October 20, 2014 – Habitat for Humanity of Mason County welcomes the public for the Wall-Raising ceremony of the Padgett/Wynne family’s future home at 90 East Panorama Drive, Shelton, in the Shorecrest Community, on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 1:00 p.m.

“The raising of the first wall is an important step in the Habitat homeownership process and is very symbolic for our partner family.  In addition to the volunteer construction crew and staff, we are excited to have a team of local realtors joining us.” Said Tammey Newton, Executive Director.  “Our organization is excited to work with Habitat on the wall raising,” said Melissa Lee, President of the Mason County Association of Realtors. “Our group is committed to building a stronger community as realtors, how exciting for us to be able to participate at the beginning.”

Habitat for Humanity of Mason County invites the community to join in helping to construct and raise the first wall of the home during the ceremony.  “We would love for everyone to join us for the celebration of this happy occasion.” said Newton.

The three-bedroom, two bathroom home will be for the Padgett/Wynne family, who are working hard on completing 400 hours of “sweat equity” needed before they can move into the home. The family will be on site working on these hours, meeting volunteers, and learning valuable skills that will help them when they become homeowners. Once the house is finished, the family will buy the home from Habitat for no profit, with a 0% interest loan. This home is part of an effort to support Habitat for Humanity with its goal of providing, simple, decent and affordable shelter for people in need. Each of the Habitat for Humanity homes are built and certified to EnergyStar efficiency and Built Green standards.
