Ways to Volunteer!
Stores
Support the Habitat Store by helping create a clean, organized, and welcoming shopping environment. Volunteers assist with merchandising and restocking inventory, cleaning and organizing store areas, and receiving and preparing donations for sale.
Construction - Build a Home!
Support the construction of new homes for Habitat partner families through our Homeownership Program. Volunteers assist with hands-on building tasks such as framing, siding, painting, and general site work, helping turn donated materials and plans into safe, affordable homes from the ground up.
Aging in Place - Home Repairs
Support critical home repair projects that help seniors, veterans, and families safely remain in their homes. Work focuses on exterior improvements such as ramps, accessibility upgrades, and essential repairs that improve safety, mobility, and independence.
Neighbors in Bloom
Help beautify homes and neighborhoods through landscaping and gardening projects. Volunteers assist with yard clean-up, planting, and basic outdoor improvements that enhance curb appeal and create welcoming, well-maintained spaces for families and the community.
Community Events
Represent Habitat for Humanity in the community by supporting and engaging at local events. Volunteers help share our mission, connect with attendees, and assist with event activities. Opportunities include Allyn Days, Christmas Parades, Expo / Bite of Shelton, Forest Festival, OysterFest, and other community events throughout the year.
Committees
Serve on one or more committees to utilize your skills and experience in guiding and strengthening Habitat for Humanity’s programs, operations, and community impact. Church Relations Help build and maintain partnerships with local faith communities to strengthen support, increase awareness, and grow engagement in our mission. Construction and Land Acquisition Support efforts to identify land opportunities and assist with hands-on or advisory construction projects that help bring affordable housing to life. Event Planning and Fundraising Assist in organizing community events and fundraising activities that raise awareness, generate support, and bring people together for our mission. Family Selection and Support Help guide the process of selecting partner families and provide ongoing support as they move toward homeownership and stability. Finance Support financial operations including budgeting, recordkeeping, and reporting to ensure responsible stewardship of resources and program sustainability.
Hospitality & Volunteer Care
Help create a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging environment for volunteers and community members. Volunteers assist with appreciation events, provide meals or refreshments at build sites and gatherings, and support general hospitality efforts that strengthen care and connection within the Habitat community.
Administrative
Support the behind-the-scenes work that keeps Habitat running smoothly. Volunteers assist with a variety of administrative tasks including office organization, data entry, communications, filing, and assisting with grant writing and research. This role helps strengthen operations, reporting, and funding efforts that support our mission.
