Our family is extremely grateful for your dedicated workers who helped my mother in law who is blind build a ramp in our new home. We are so thankful for the brush with kindness organization who was able to help fund the material that was needed to build my mother in law a ramp. There is no way our family would have been able to do it alone. Thank you and God Bless!

I would have continued to remain house bound and unable to get out to do my job. Habitat is very courteous professional and highly qualified. They know what they are doing and care about the people they help.

Wonderful, loving and caring people, their work saves people living in desperation.
Home Ownership

Habitat for Humanity’s Housing Program offers families in need an opportunity to achieve affordable homeownership and build a brighter future. Through a partnership model, selected applicants work alongside volunteers and staff, contributing "sweat equity" to help construct their homes. Habitat provides affordable mortgage options, ensuring long-term stability for homeowners. This program not only provides shelter but also promotes community engagement, financial empowerment, and the strength to break the cycle of poverty, reflecting Habitat’s commitment to creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
We do not accept applications until we have a building site available. When Applications are open we will have an "Apply Now" button available. However, please sign up to be on the "Notify Me" list for when it is open!

I have so much gratitude for the Habitat for Humanity Community. Since buying this house, I have been able to enjoy the comforts and peace of home ownership that previously were not obtainable. For so long I have prayed I could find a way to buy a safe and clean home for my children. This dream would not have come true if it weren’t for the Habitat program.

The process of building our home with Habitat was an amazing experience. I learned so much and they included me in everything. I’ve made many friendships along the way. Watching volunteers and neighbors come together to support families like mine was truly inspiring.
Homeownership through Habitat has changed mine and my kids’ lives and has given us hope for the future.
Follow Up Study
Habitat for Humanity believes everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. Since 1996, we have completed 41 homes in Mason County through 2026. Each home represents more than walls and a roof. It represents stability, security, and a fresh start for a local family. Children have a safe place to play, grow, and simply be kids in a neighborhood they can feel proud of.
Family Selection is about more than affordable housing. It is about creating opportunity. When families have a stable home, they can focus on education, career growth, and building a future without the constant stress of housing uncertainty. A home provides comfort, dignity, and peace of mind.
In 2013, every child over the age of 18 from the families interviewed had graduated from high school. This is especially meaningful considering Shelton High School’s dropout rate at the time was 69 percent. The stability of a Habitat home played a powerful role in helping those students stay on track and reach graduation.
Our work does not end at move in day. We offer classes to Habitat homeowners, including budgeting, septic system maintenance, and other practical tools that support long term success. Each family is also connected with a dedicated family partner who walks alongside them through the journey. Even years later, those connections remain strong. In 2025, we hired Kendra Martinsen, homeowner of House 37, as an employee at our Shelton Store. Seeing homeowners grow into roles within our organization is one of our greatest joys.
We take pride in the difference these homes make. Being able to ease stress and provide a stepping stone toward something greater is a true privilege. Homeownership should not come at the cost of peace, family time, or missed opportunities. Through Habitat, families are able to achieve their dreams while building a strong foundation for the future.
